Longboard Coalition – Helmet, Put it on

When we think about downhill longboarding, we think about the wind that flows into our face and the feeling of like flying. Sometimes we think about being cool, we tend to sometimes say that wearing a helmet may affect your riding skills or you don’t need it because you’re an expert, well I guess you’re wrong. Sometime, we actually don’t think what happens to a human body when it encounters a collision or an accident.Helmet is an essential part of our sport. We should always prioritize our safety before riding our skateboards.

Helmet

To protect your head from injury, always wear a properly fitting helmet. This is true no matter what your age, level of experience or location where you are skateboarding. Get a quality helmet or multi-sport helmet. It should meet or exceed safety standards of the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) or Snell Memorial Foundation. You may need to try on several sizes and models to find a helmet that fits your head correctly and securely. A properly fitting helmet:

  • Is worn flat on your head with the bottom edge parallel to the ground
  • Sits low on your forehead
  • Has side straps that form a “V” shape around each ear
  • Has a buckle that fastens tightly (there should be room to put only two fingers between the strap and your chin)
  • Has pads inside that you install or remove so the helmet fits snuggly
  • Does not move in any direction when you shake your head
  • Does not interfere with your movement, vision or hearing

This is the face of pure stoke and true gratefulness for the opportunity to be a part of the Clutchdown hill team. basically i am a sponsored rider now and i am going to use this opportunity to its fullest potential and hopefully become the best downhiller i can.

stoked to see kirsten to get sponsored. Keep on being one hell of a longboarder kirs! [=

Longboard slides are so much harder than I expected them to be

backwardblackbyrd:

adamvstheworld:

Ive been skating a cruiser for a while, so i assumed i could just hop on a longboard and slide like a champ, but shit son, it is A LOT harder than any video makes it seem. Also, the fact that I see like 12yr olds being able to do it only makes it worse.

Yerp. My thoughts exactly.

yeah, i started off with a 27.5” board. but if you get your technique down, it should be easier.
